"Unable to load (name of .torrent) - Invalid .torrent file!"

I started getting this message the other day when trying to download any torrent from any number of sites, no matter what the file or where i got it from. It should be noted that I am using my school's wireless network; however it's never been a problem to download torrents at school before and I've had this issue in the past on my home network as well. The last time it happened I just started using a different torrent client (uTorrent) but now it's happening on that as well! I am running Windows 7, my firewall settings are on Public, but I've specifically allowed uTorrent access to the network on this setting. Not sure what other relevant information I can give...any help would be appreciated.
