bugmenot2 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Well, since I updated to 2.0.1, uTorrent crashes frequently and becomes undead or something.I cannot restart it since starting uTorrent just tells me to get rid of the first process. However, nothing short of a reboot helps, and this is very annoying. Task Manager, TASKKILL/F, nothing can end it.Any help?
Melmac Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 I experienced the same thing (XP 32bit SP3).I updated uTorrent when it told me there was a new version, then when the update process was running nothing happened. I couldn't access internet and couldn't kill uTorrent.First I killed the network connection. Then I killed F-Secure (release and accept all connections) and then the uTorrrent in taskmanager dissapeared by itself (The update was finnished, that's where it hangs, in the update stage) I restarted uTorrent and it started up fine. Restarted F-Secure and first deleted the acceptance of uTorrent connecting to Internet. Then I manually acceptet uToorent connection to Internet.Restarted network and there you go, everything works (so far.....)
bugmenot2 Posted May 14, 2010 Author Report Posted May 14, 2010 It wouldn't be that big of a problem if it only happened on updates, but to me it happens regularly and 8 out of 10 times when I just try to close uTorrent... very annoying.
Firon Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Are you on Windows 7? If so, it's a bug in Windows 7 itself, which you can bypass by disabling IPv6 on your system.
bugmenot2 Posted May 14, 2010 Author Report Posted May 14, 2010 Actually, I think I'm going to downgrade to 1.8.5 again...Which brings me to another question: Why doesn't this occur with, say, uTorrent 1.8.5, if it's a Windows 7 bug? 1.8.5 also uses IPv6, doesn't it?
DreadWingKnight Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Not to the same extent, and downgrading is not only not troubleshooting, it is not supported.
Firon Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 You have to be using UDP with IPv6 to trigger it. Microsoft has already confirmed the bug, they just are having trouble fixing it (they'd seen it on Vista, but it went away without them fixing it).
ratonjd Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 I'm having the same issue since I installed 2.01. Now yesterday I updated to 2.02 and the problem still seems to be there. Sometimes if I'm lucky utorrent closes, but most of the time I have to reboot my computer. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. Any suggestions?Here is my hijackthis log:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4Scan saved at 10:36:23 AM, on 5/15/2010Platform: Windows 7 (WinNT 6.00.3504)MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.7600.16385)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\Windows\system32\Dwm.exeC:\Windows\system32\taskhost.exeC:\Windows\Explorer.EXEC:\Windows\system32\taskeng.exeC:\Program Files\RegCure\RegCure.exeC:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9\avgtray.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Java\Java Update\jusched.exeC:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exeC:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exeC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exeC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exeC:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil10e.exeC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exeC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exeC:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exeC:\Program Files\Windows Live\Contacts\wlcomm.exeC:\Program Files\uTorrent\uTorrent.exeC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IELowutil.exeC:\Windows\system32\SearchFilterHost.exeC:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HiJackThis\HiJackThis.exeR1 -
