downloading during hibernation

long story short my computer constantly gets closed by my mother and it goes in to hibernate and locks the computer(vista) is there a way i could prevent it from stopping my torrents because when my cousin's computer goes into hibernate and locks it doesn't stop his.

Your cousin's computer obviously isn't going into hibernate, it wouldn't be able to torrent if it were.

Hibernate is the same as power off, but the memory state is saved so it resumes quicker than a normal boot. A computer that is off cannot download. (Same for standby, before you ask)
