nologin Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Hi,I have a setting for 'Move .torrents for finished jobs to:'After a downloading finishes, I'd like the .torrent file to be moved to the directory, however, it remains in the initial directory. How could I make that happen other than this setting?
moogly Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 You can't. And believe me, it's not a very brilliant idea to store the .torrent file with the data (files), but it's better to store all the .torrent in the same directory.
nologin Posted May 22, 2010 Author Report Posted May 22, 2010 I don't store the .torrent files with the data files, I just download them to random directories and I want them to be moved to a Finished directory when the data files are downloaded (so I can see the amount and times of them). It is just annoying that I have .torrent files popping up in random directories on my computer. What is that 'Move .torrents for finished jobs to:' supposed to do anyway?
moogly Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Let me be more clear. µT creates a work copy (for tracking purposes) of each .torrent loaded in the folder %appdata%\utorrent by default or in the folder set in Preferences > Directories. But the original .torrent is not used anymore, and is useless for µT.When the torrent job is finished, µT can move the .torrent into another directory. But that's the same folder for all finished torrent jobs. But you can't move the .torrent A into the data folder A, the .torrent B into the data folder B etc...
nologin Posted May 22, 2010 Author Report Posted May 22, 2010 Perhaps I should be more clear, too I download the x.torrent file to d:\dir1 and y.torrent to d:\dir2.I open them in uTorrent and let it finish the job. AFTER they are finished, I don't want x.torrent to moved into dirA and y.torrent to moved into dirB -- I want x.torrent to be moved to dirFinished and y.torrent to moved to dirFinished and I want dir1 NOT containing x.torrent anymore and dir2 NOT containing y.torrent anymore. As you mentioned, the original .torrent files become irrelevant to uTorrent. Does it mean that x.torrent and y.torrent aren't considered for moving anywhere?
moogly Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Yes, they are NOT used by µT, because the client has created a COPY of these .torrent files. That's why I added a clarification about the .torrent copy, storing/moving .torrent options (Preferences > Directories) work only with the .torrent copies which are tracked by µT.You can erase the original ones, µT doesn't care.
nologin Posted May 23, 2010 Author Report Posted May 23, 2010 Okay, thanks for the explanation, I get it now.
