ayveoh Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 Whenever I'm browsing the internet while using Utorrent, my download speeds are MUCH faster. My download speeds while not using the internet are around 10-40 kb/s. However when I open up firefox and browse, my download speeds jump to 100-700 kb/s.Why is this happening, how can I make it so my speeds are maximized even without browsing internet?I'm using Windows 7. My ports are forwarded and unblocked. I'm using latest version.THANKS!
Switeck Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 Do you have a QoS shaper enabled that has priorities for Firefox?...Or low power modes for windows?
ayveoh Posted May 30, 2010 Author Report Posted May 30, 2010 I don't know what either is, but I haven't changed anything with those names.also, you know I mean that my download speeds are FASTER while browsing internet. Not slower.
Switeck Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 And that's why I'm wondering if your computer isn't going into a partial "sleep" mode for the internet connection speed-wise when you're not web browsing.Either that, or malware is present?
ayveoh Posted May 31, 2010 Author Report Posted May 31, 2010 I'm 99% I have no Malware. How can I check if my computer is going into this 'partial sleep', and if it is, how can i change it?
Switeck Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 I wish I knew.If it's not a laptop, it's not even likely to be running other than basic power management tools anyway.
