Newbie needs help!! utorrent won't open!

Okay, so I downloaded utorrent, but when I went to open it....nothing! I remember a friend of mine said I might have another program that conflicts with it, or that utorrent doesn't allow, but I can't get in touch with him. Any help would be very much appreciated....I suck at computers. Thanks!!
