Download Limited

I read the FAQ topic on this issue, but I really don't understand what to do to fix the problem. Can someone please explain to me exactly what steps to take to get rid of "download limited" I would really appreciate it...I am sorry to ask questions about a topic that was in the FAQ, but i just don't get it.

raise the cap on your upload to 6kBps or above.

right click on the upload section of the status bar, and select a highr speed. 80% of your max upload speed should do fine.

no problem. have fun with µtorrent. you can get recommendations to all important settings by using the speed guide: either:

go to options-->speed guide

or

Ctrl-G

There are so many settings, that it's difficult to know what to set them at. It may be easy for you guys, but some people have difficulties grasping what some of the settings do.

Global maximum upload rate

Global maximum download rate

Maximum number of connections

Maximum number of connected peers per torrent

Number of upload slots

Maximum number of active torrents (upload or download)

Maximum number of active downloads <----How is this different from the setting above it?

Anyway, as Firon said, the Speed Guide already does everything for you. And active torrents includes seeding torrents, not just downloading torrents.

Ctrl G sets all that, just choose your upload speed.

Ok but don't people tweak their settings to get optimal speeds? If the Ctrl G Speed Guide does this for you, then why have those options open with the ability to change them. Everyone here keeps saying, "Speed Guide" "Speed Guide" but it doesn't seem to solve people's speed problems.

Because it's not one size fits all. NO program can figure out the exact optimal settings. There are factors that require data that can't be gathered from your computer alone. Meaning YOUR proposal for a separate program up above would suffer the same exact fate. It's a best guess estimate, and works well in most cases. The options are there in case the settings aren't good enough, and to stop people from complaining about lack of customizability. Some people might want to upload faster. Some people have legitimate reasons to lower their uploads.

And the Speed Guide would solve a lot of problems presented in the forums (not necessarily all), if people actually bothered to use it. If people actually used it, they wouldn't be asking about the Download Limited error, or why their upload speed is saturated.

Sorry to chime in here but can anyone explain why I'm showing download limited when my settings are absolutely correct (calculated by manually with ease and checked against built in calc)..... At present I'm only downloading 1 torrent and seeding 1 yet download limited remains in the status bar?

Ah yeah I've read that thanks I'm aware of checking FAQ before posting, I've been using uTorrent since 1.2 and this is the first problem I've had showing download limited
