toranky Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Hi. Sorry if this has been posted somewhere; I couldn't find anything when I did a search.I was using the scheduler for a long while just fine, but I noticed that a while back, when I launched uTorrent, none of my downloads were resuming. I don't remember how I figured it out, but I guess I decided to disable the scheduler and my downloads started again. To make sure it wasn't a coincidence, I enabled it again. My torrents stopped. Every time I enable it, whatever I have downloading stops. I didn't make any changes to the settings (unless I did something by accident that I am not aware of), so I'm not sure why it's doing this. I have disabled the scheduler for now, but I'd like to use it.Does anyone know why this happens and is there a fix? I was going to uninstall and reinstall as a last resort, but I was kinda concerned about losing my torrents. I know I won't lose whatever files I have, but I was concerned about whatever's on my list (if there's a way to save this info, if someone could let me know, that'd be much appreciated. I didn't want to have to go searching for that exact torrent again to resume the download). Thanks!
rafi Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 and you've enabled the scheduler both globally (checked) and per-day (green/full-speed) ?
toranky Posted June 11, 2010 Author Report Posted June 11, 2010 Hi rafi. Thanks for the quick response. Hm, I'm not sure what you mean by globally (if this is in a newer version, I'm running v1.8.2), but the times to have it enabled are all in green. Here is a screenshot of my settings:Note: I don't have it enabled. I just checked it for the screenshot because it's grayed out if unchecked. As far as I know, aside from the range that I've selected, everything is the default settings. I don't know what could be causing it to stop my torrents.
rafi Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 It looks fine for only 3-10am ... make sure your PC clock & time-zone it correctly set. plus, the forum supports only version 2.02 users now...
toranky Posted June 11, 2010 Author Report Posted June 11, 2010 Hmm, I had additional clocks for different timezones (for friends who are doing things overseas), but I didn't think that would affect it. My local time is correct.I guess I'll have to upgrade. :[ Do you know if my torrents will carry over (I was concerned about this when I was considering uninstalling/reinstalling) or how I can get it to save the torrent information? Thanks for your help.
rafi Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 - first - backup both your exe & .dat/.old setting files (so you can revert back) - then don't install, just replace the old exe with the new one and direct the installer to NOT install- not to forget - take care of adjusting your firewall...This should keep all your previous torrents . My bet - it will make no difference to the scheduler. You can enabled the whole day in the scheduler and disable a few hours at a time to understand if uT is effected by any of the time zones at all ...
Switeck Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Hold down the mouse button and move the cursor all around the scheduler area to "paint" it all one color. It's far quicker than clicking each box.
toranky Posted June 11, 2010 Author Report Posted June 11, 2010 Thanks for the tip, but I figured that out when I found clicking the first few boxes tedious! Thanks, rafi. I'll try that and post again if I need any help.
Switeck Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 I mentioned the old tip for anyone else who reads this as well.
toranky Posted July 21, 2010 Author Report Posted July 21, 2010 I just wanted to post an update about my situation to anyone who may come across this thread.Yesterday I decided to install the newest version of utorrent because, on top of the Scheduler giving me problems, I had torrents that had plenty of seeds, but weren't starting or only started some of the time. I think there are quite a few reasons to say the least as to why this could be, but I decided to see if reinstalling to fix my Scheduler issue could resolve this one as well. If not, then I would look for another fix.Anyway, I installed the newest version and it kept my list of torrents (although I asked how to keep them here, when I decided to upgrade last night, I didn't really care anymore, so I did not back up anything). However, my downloads still weren't starting. I decided to uninstall EVERYTHING (using Revo Uninstaller) and then reinstall. The Scheduler works perfectly and my downloads that did not start before were working perfectly fine.I don't know what the issue was, unfortunately -- maybe it was a settings issue (note: I removed settings files when uninstalling) -- but this seemed to fix the two issues I was experiencing.
GTHK Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Well, if your settings were bugged, since you no longer have a copy it can't be investigated
