stuff Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 hey guys...sorry if this is a ridiculous question...first post.I have an airport extreme N router and am running utorrent on a wirelessly connected imac. I just purchased a 1 TB HD that i'm planning on connecting to my router via usb 2.0 for network file sharing. I was thinking of using this drive wirelessly as my destination drive for my torrent downloads. I would like to do this so that I can share my downloads over the network, but also to save my internal drive from wear and tear.1) will this work or will my download speeds be severely bottlenecked?2) will this actually save my internal hard drive or will the internal hard drive still be utilized as an intermediary since i would have to run utorrent off the internal drive? i'm not sure if the packets would be downloaded to my internal drive, composed, and then transmitted to the wifi drive or if the wifi drive is accessed directly with all the work done in ram/cache/whatever, thus saving my comp/internal drive from wear and tear.my basic goal is to save my internal drive from wear and tear, share my files over the wireless network, and maintain download speeds. any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated....like i said, i'm a bit of a newb compared to you guys.
