Hugo
It appears like utorrent can only accept incoming connections to peers on my machine, not connect actively to other peers.my current stats: Last launched: 20.06.2010 14:11:17# incoming conns since start: 1333708# outgoing conns since start: 0# handshake: 908750# connections: 106# half-open: 1 (0 connections)Even when running torrents from public trackers with thousands of peers and seeds, my bandwidth may be maxed out but all connections are still incoming only. I am behind a router; if I disable upnp port mapping to prevent incoming connections, no new connections are initiated at all, and all torrents stall. This happens without a resident virusscanner or firewall active except the default windows firewall. There is no proxy server configured in utorrent, and I am quite certain that my ISP does not run a transparent proxy or firewall service, or interferes with torrents in any other way. At least I could find no mention of it on the web, and it is one of the largest ISP in my country. It is not too big a problem, since apparently all torrents still download and seed at full speed. But I am curious, any idea what could cause this?
Switeck
Only incoming connections but no outgoing?Crazy! Can you try with a brand new install of uTorrent using portable install method (so as not to "damage" your current setup)? There's a few settings in uTorrent that might cause these problems but won't be set that way if you used new/default settings. Hugo
After first tests it seems that the portable install of utorrent does not have this problem; it allows outgoing connections.UPDATE:I think I found the problem. bt.trans_disposition was set to 255, and I was using utorrent 1.8.1As far as I now understand this is not a valid value for this version. Setting it to 0 or 1 solves the problem. Migrating to the newest utorrent is planned in the near future. As for why it was set that way, I remember changing it way back when utp came out, it seems like I followed the wrong guide.Sorry for the trouble and thanks for your help! Switeck
v1.8.3 and later changed what different bt.trans_disposition values do.v1.8.1 is hopelessly out of date, we don't support or troubleshoot problems with it anymore.
