Asiyreh1 Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 Hi allOk here's the thing. I want to share what I have downloaded with everyone else. The natural order of seeding, I suppose you could call it. The thing is I find that if I seed, while downloading, it seems to choke my downloading capabilities. I find it's much faster to stop all activities then restart the one torrent I'm currently downloading. I've followed though the speed guide and tweaked my system for my particular D/U rate... I think...Yeh that's about it. Any help would be great, I'd prefer not to spend most of my quality Utorrent time being a leech.
Asiyreh1 Posted July 7, 2010 Author Report Posted July 7, 2010 Ok Hmm, I'm not a complete n00bee but I'm no techie either so bare with me here...K under the bandwidth tab I can see my max upload speed is set to 46, while the download is set to 0. I have a UK based talk talk connection, that I think is 8 meg???
Switeck Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 Sadly, your line probably isn't 8 megabit/second down...and probably isn't even 0.8 megabit/second up. Please check the speeds using online speed tests (speedtest.net being one of the better ones). Also, TalkTalk does horrible things to BitTorrent traffic. They may molest it a little less between 2 am and 9 am though...
Asiyreh1 Posted July 7, 2010 Author Report Posted July 7, 2010 Ok so I went to Speedtest as you suggested. Ran a test at 10 o clock which I assume would be a busy time to be molested. Straight in, no kissing time... It told me my Download was 3.87 Mb/sUpload 0.55 Mb/sPing 81 ms...So what's the best way to proceed then?I mean it's not really affecting me as such, however I's prefer to share while I download. Thanks for the help...
Switeck Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Assuming those are usable speeds in uTorrent (and I bet they aren't during peak evening hours), use the 512 kilobit/second upload settings on my Speed Guide chart. (2nd link in my signature)
