rdmarino Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 I redo my uTorrent Setup Guide every so often to keep the settings updated. Well, I had an update for the latest beta version, so I updated. I'm not sure if that caused the problem (because I tried downgrading back to the stable version with no luck), but I get this error every time I try to do the Setup Guide. [see screenshot] http://bit.ly/daKCJ7 The Bandwidth test fails on every server, and I know that my static ip and port forwarding is setup properly. Where it says "Neither NAT-PMP nor UPnP is enabled. Please check your preferences," they are both checked on in my settings. So I don't understand why it says that. My UPnP is turned on in my router also. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Switeck Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 Do you need UPnP or NAT-PMP to get the (unfirewalled) green light in uTorrent? If not, disable them both.Speed test servers may well all be down.Is your line 16 mbit/sec down and 2 mbit/sec up? Otherwise, you may not have 2 mbit/sec upload all of the time.
rdmarino Posted July 10, 2010 Author Report Posted July 10, 2010 Well, I found out the problem (luckily). I notice my Norton was closed for some reason, so I restarted it. Could you explain to me why that would mess up uTorrent?
Switeck Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 Yes, most 3rd party software firewalls default to block all incoming when "disabled".That and Norton is crap. It's highly suggested you try this for further testing:http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
rdmarino Posted July 10, 2010 Author Report Posted July 10, 2010 Yea, I hate Norton with a passion lol. I ONLY use it because it's complimentary with Comcast internet. Mcafee used to come with the subscription, but they switched to Norton. What do you use?
