sasuke1423 Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 I have a verizon router, and its different from the others that i've seen on the portforward guides. I'm wondering if anyone can help? I'm sorry if this subject isn't on the troubleshooting section because i'm new here. Once i went on192.168.1.1 i clicked firewall settings. On the left i clicked port forwarding and i clicked add. I don't know what service it's in soo i just clicked Create. I entered "UTORRENT" for the name of the custom service. Then finally at number 3.I'm wondering what Protocol is and what should i put in:Global PortStart: Don't know what i'm supposed to put in.Global PortEnd: Don't know what i'm supposed to put in.BaseHost Port: Don't know what i'm supposed to put in.Thank you if you can help me with this.
moogly Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 Add the rule:utorrent TCP/UDP XXXXX-XXXXX Local_IP(computer)where XXXXX is the port number ( > 10000).
sasuke1423 Posted July 12, 2010 Author Report Posted July 12, 2010 The port number is less than 10,000?
WLS Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 I have mine set at Global port start, end and base host port: 41xxx, with uTorrent configured to use that port.Works fine
sasuke1423 Posted July 13, 2010 Author Report Posted July 13, 2010 so if utorrent uses port 12345 i need to put 12345 at Global Port start, end, and base?
paintball9 Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 yes, (that section your using is for port range forwarding allowing you to specify a whole section of ports) there should be a single port forward option somewhere in your router as well but both will work. and >10000 means above 10000 (generally ports under that will can be used by other programs and could cause conflicts, easier to avoid the problem and use a port outside the range. So your settings should be something like thisprotocol = udp and tcpstart port 12000end port 12000base port 12000and then go into utorrent and put the same port in its options.
moogly Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Or use UPnP if your router supports it. So in this case you don't need to forward a port manually and you can use the option about random port in µT.
sasuke1423 Posted July 14, 2010 Author Report Posted July 14, 2010 I can't put in UPD and TCp at the same time, i could only put in one of them. Which one should i choose?
moogly Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Create 2 rules:utorrent_tcp TCP port_XXX Local_IPutorrent_udp UDP port_XXX Local_IP
sasuke1423 Posted July 14, 2010 Author Report Posted July 14, 2010 ok, i created 2 rules and clicked Done and then clicked applied, do i have to do anything else?
moogly Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 In theory, no.Sometimes you have to set the firewall internal to the router but the default settings should be ok.
sasuke1423 Posted July 14, 2010 Author Report Posted July 14, 2010 Entry Protocol Global Port Start Global Port End Base Host Port Action 1 TCP 14231 14231 2 UDP 14231 14231 So should it be something like this? I don't see the Global Port End though.
moogly Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I don't know the role of the "Base Host Port" but if the port is open without filling this field, so it's OK.
sasuke1423 Posted July 15, 2010 Author Report Posted July 15, 2010 Oh, i got this part done, "Port is opened and properly configured" thanks to your help =)But..... for some reason, i still have this Data and Send Error.
sasuke1423 Posted July 15, 2010 Author Report Posted July 15, 2010 Data and send error while runing speed test. No incoming connections while trying to download. Ohh i don't know what to do......
