Sparks Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 A nice feature would be a button to minimise to the tray, when the minimise to tray is not selected as default in the optionsThen the user can either press normal minimise, or the minimist to tray button, depending on what they want at the time.Other software has another button in the top right corner, with a dot at the bottom to achieve this.Sparks...
Ultima Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Then how about using close to tray and turning off minimize to tray... "close" closes to tray, and minimize minimizes to taskbar...
Sparks Posted March 3, 2006 Author Report Posted March 3, 2006 Because that irritates me :-)If I press close, I want it to do that :-)
Majik Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Extremely redundant, IMHO. Whatever =TNot really, it's not. It does have it's uses and benefits for those who make use of it. ;p
Kanji_Man Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 If you have a need to minimize windows to tray instead of taskbar there are many solutions out there that will enable this sort of feature system wide. Personally I use the option in TaskSwitchXP to right click minimize to go to tray. I have been using computers for quite some time and it has been my experience that any program which tries to add additional buttons to the top of the application is doomed to be buggy and fail. Windows does not really provide an appropriate API for adding custom application buttons to the titlebar and every program that does this sort of thing uses it's own code that sooner or later interferes with a windows theme, a winamp snap-on control, or something else that modifies the way a window looks. I would strongly suggest against uTorrent adding a minimize to tray button and I would encourage you to explore the many alternatives out there to meet this need if you do not wish to enable the minimize to tray option.Anyway that's my two cents.
Majik Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 I have been using computers for quite some time and it has been my experience that any program which tries to add additional buttons to the top of the application is doomed to be buggy and fail. For FTP, I use FileZilla exclusively. It's gotta be one of the smallest FTP clients I've used and have never had any problems whatsoever, related to it's minimize to tray button or otherwise. On the other hand, I have used third-party programs in the past which can add this functionality to any Windows application and have had problems with programs such as those.
splintax Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 No, I don't want it either, I'd prefer to keep things standard. If anything, there should be a keyboard shortcut to do it - but NOT an extra titlebar button.
1c3d0g Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Agreed. It's redundant. No need to overload graphics designers with even more work... :/
Ultima Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Indeed, three ways to get the application to tray is a lot... Heck, even pressing Esc will close it to tray. Meaning 4 ways? I might be missing some other ways...
splintax Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Well, only if you have minimize to tray enabled. But how about this..- Minimize button on title bar (minimize to tray)- Close button on title bar (close to tray)- Alt+F4 (close to tray)- Click on taskbar icon while in focus (minimize to tray)- Alt+Space, N (minimize to tray)- Alt+Space, X (close to tray)- Windows key+D (minimize to tray)- Esc (minimize to tray)that's all I can think of right now
Ultima Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Eh could've sworn it went to tray when I tested Esc with both options off... well whatever =P
Sparks Posted March 6, 2006 Author Report Posted March 6, 2006 Well, only if you have minimize to tray enabled. But how about this..- Minimize button on title bar (minimize to tray)- Close button on title bar (close to tray)- Alt+F4 (close to tray)- Click on taskbar icon while in focus (minimize to tray)- Alt+Space, N (minimize to tray)- Alt+Space, X (close to tray)- Windows key+D (minimize to tray)- Esc (minimize to tray)that's all I can think of right now That lot only seems to work when minimise to tray is on, which I dont want to turn on (I'ts irritating!)Is there a way to send uTorrent to the tray, when minimise to tray is NOT switched on?
Animorc Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 It seems so. Though clicking on the tray icon will send it to the systray even if you have "minimize to tray" unchecked
Rasqual Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 How about Shift+Minimize to invert the settings behavio(u)r?
