Some of you might say why i'm i complain since it work....well i know something is wrong and i'm concerned. I have a Linksys WRT54Gv4 router that i just recently update the firmware to the DD-WRT v2.3 because the uTorrent suggested that in the FAQs. After updating the firmware last night i config it to do port forwarding (not port range forwarding) on port 12153. For a while i used the Speed Guide to check on the status of the port. At first it wasnt working then after playing around a bit it worked. This morning for some reason when turn on uTorrent it said "listen error" in the status bar but the Network is OK. I went in and check the port settings to make it is set right in uTorrent and in the router. Everything was the same as last night. Did a port status check with Speed Guide...it fail.

I did some troubleshooting with the router port forwarding settings but didnt work. I even turned off Zonealarm firewall (thought this might have been what blocking it) but still didnt work. After a while i decided to just turn off port forwarding and port range forwarding for the port 12153 and Speed Guide report the port is open. I thought it is pretty weird because i need to do port forwarding for it to work. I tried one last thing, have uTorrent randomly pick another port (i didnt config the router to forward this port) and it work just fine without port forwarding (speed guide reported the port is open).

Since it is working i'm happy but at the same time there might be a security issue if the router is forwarding every instead of selected one. I am not running a static IP address but the address shouldnt change anyway. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have UPnP enabled and not just in µTorrent?

i do have uPnP enable on the router and uTorrent. It report that the port is open even though i did not set it to forward that port on the router....weird..
