Zorque Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 I've been having a problem for the last week or so, where uTorrent becomes completely unresponsive for 10 or 15 minutes at a time, seemingly for no reason. Adding new torrents or checking on the progress of current ones is an exercise in futility.I've made no recent changes that could have caused this: no new hardware, no new software besides a game or two, no changes to system settings, etc. I've tried quite a few things to fix the problem. I first thought it could be related to the large number (1000+) torrents I had loaded, so I cut the number down to 100 and saw no change in behavior. I deleted uTorrent's executable and all of its settings and reinstalled it, and still saw no change, even when reverting to earlier versions. In addition, I've been having that issue where the EXE still shows up in task manager and can't be closed until the computer restarts. I read that disabling IPv6 would fix that issue, but I've done that and it still happens. For reference, I'm on Windows 7, fully updated, and have checked all the appropriate FAQs and ruled out any incompatible software.

Firon Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 That can actually cause all the hangs. Disable IPv6 completely and try it again.
Zorque Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 Reading further into the IPv6 problem and fixing tcpip.sys seems to have worked, thanks. I had forgotten to replace it again after I upgraded from Vista to 7, though it's kind of strange that the problem didn't start for months afterwards.
Firon Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 The official fix from MS will probably be in Service Pack 1 for Windows 7.
