kspanks
Recently I downgraded my Comcast internet from 15 mbs to 1.5 mbs. I've noticed that when I download large files using uTorrent I can't get much over 7 or 8 kb/s. Even at this speed, my internet browsing drags until I close uTorrent. Could it be that Comcast suddenly decided to throttled my connection when I am downloading a torrent? However I have downloaded smaller files (>70 mb) and have seen speeds up to 600 kb/s. I also noticed this same problem on my other computer. I took my laptop to work to test the speed of the slow torrent and it was downloading at 70 kb/s! What is going on here? Would comcast have a different policy regarding p2p on the lower speed plans but not the high speed plans?
Switeck
The lower speed plan probably has far less upload max.uTorrent is set up based on max upload, and if set too high will generally lag the connection -- although uTP can reduce the lag considerably when it works correctly. kspanks
Thanks for the reply, yes my upload speed was hacked quite a bit however, there seems to be a definite dl speed difference between movies and music. I think its weird that my browsing speed slows to a dial-up crawl even if something is downloading at 2 kb/s.
Switeck
Speeds should *NOT* slow that much!Follow 1st (slow speed section) and 2nd links in my signature. Also try rafi's uTorrent v2.0.X Migration Guide here: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=74820
