Reph Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and can't get it to upload at all to save my life. Downloads work perfectly fine, however. uTorrent 2.0.3. Port is forwarded and firewall exception is allowed. Using Avast Home Edition 5.0.594. I used to be able to upload fine when I had Vista using the same settings. I read around for a few solutions (turning DHT off, deleting and re-adding the firewall exceptions, etc.), none of which worked. Any help, folks?
DreadWingKnight Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Is there actually anyone on these torrents to upload to?
DreadWingKnight Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Are they actually connected to you or are you going from the "X of Y" numbers from "X of Y (Z in swarm)" on the general tab?
Reph Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 Well, for one particular torrent it says 3 of 104 connected (13 in swarm), whatever that means. Where should I be pulling the information from, or is the general tab fine?
DreadWingKnight Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 The general tab is fine. What is the offending torrent showing for seeds on the same torrent?
Reph Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 0 of 96 connected (119 in swarm). I've even tried with OpenOffice torrents to see if it was just a low seed/peer problem, but I had no change in uploading whatsoever if it's helpful information.
DreadWingKnight Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Openoffice torrents aren't any good for testing uploading, and your torrent is no better, being chronically overseeded itself.
Reph Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 Any suggestions for a good torrent to look for to test, then? I have a Demonoid account, or feel free to link to one to test.
DreadWingKnight Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Find one that has at least an equal number of peers in the swarm compared to the seeds, more peers are better to test upload speed with.
Reph Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 Found a popular one, apparently. Currently getting high 20's/low 30's of 300's connected (1500's in swarm) for seeds, single-digits of 1800's connected (1700's in swarm) for peers. I guess it was possible that all of my torrents were terrible for uploading?
DreadWingKnight Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Definitely possible, especially if you're restricted to full-private sites.
Reph Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 Well, regardless, currently uploading at a somewhat steady rate. Thanks for helping a newbie out.
