MallKid Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I have been using utorrent for well over two years now, and I never had connection problems with it, up until the past six or so months. No matter what speed I download at I end up losing connection within a couple of hours, or more often several minutes. I've read the faq, I've followed steps in troubleshooting, I've been to websites that give tips and instructions on how to fix this, but the problem persists. Here's the changes I made that I remember:Net.max_halfopenbt.connect_speedGlobal Maximum number of connectionsCurrent port (I never found a working port)Max uploadGlobal max number of connections (again)Max number of connected peers per torrentNumber of upload slots per torrentIt's been driving me crazy trying to figure out what the problem is, and I'm near wit's end. Please, if anyone has information on how I can fix this, let me know. Unfortunately I'm not too computer savvy, so I need more explanation than some people, so I hope someone will be kind enough to help me. If anyone redirects me to another page, especially the faq, please specify which section pertains to me, if you don't mind. Hope to get help soon!

MallKid Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 Here's the list of what I've changed and their current settings:net.max_halfopen: 4bt.connect_speed: 4IP resolving: Disabled (Not sure if I did this correctly)DHT Network: DisabledDHT for new torrents: DisabledUPnP: DisabledNAT-PMP: Disabledpeer.resolve_country: DisabledMaximum global number of connections: 150Maximum number of connected peers per torrent: 80bt.transp_disposition: 5 (I can't figure out how to disable this)If there's any other information needed, I'll be glad to provide it. Hope I'm not a nuisance. I feel kind of out of place considering I have no idea what any of these settings mean or what they affect. But, as long as I can get it to work I'll be happy!
paintball9 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 What version are you running and does the problem go away if you disable uTP (bandwidth management)?
MallKid Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 I'm running version 2.0.2. I didn't find uTP, but I have "Enable bandwidth management" unchecked in Preferences -> bitTorrent. But the problem still persists.
Switeck Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 It could be your router, modem, or software firewall to blame."IP resolving: Disabled (Not sure if I did this correctly)"Right-click in the Peers window/tab at bottom once you've selected a torrent from top.A menu should pop up and Resolve IPs is one of the options. Make sure there's no check next to it.
