wjgreynolds Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Hey all,Just recently I have run into a problem with uTorrent. It happened the first time with v1.8 so I uninstalled and installed 2.0.3. The problem seemed to be fixed as 2.0.3 worked fine for about 2 weeks, then the problem came back today. I am running windows 7 professional with symantec av and windows firewall. Here is the problem:uTorrent will run for between 2 and 5 minutes just fine, then the entire computer will freeze without warning. There is no response of any kind and the only solution is to perform a hard reboot. My hijackthis.log is passted below, and there was no crash report in the utorrent file so I couldn't include that. Thanks for any help!Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4Scan saved at 5:26:57 PM, on 8/9/2010Platform: Windows 7 (WinNT 6.00.3504)MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.7600.16385)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec AntiVirus\VPTray.exeC:\Windows\SysWOW64\CtHelper.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Elaborate Bytes\VirtualCloneDrive\VCDDaemon.exeC:\Program Files\iTunesHelper.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Java\Java Update\jusched.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\HiJackThis\HiJackThis.exeR1 - paintball9 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Uninstall Norton (symantec) That is the most likely candidate.
wjgreynolds Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 Ok, but then what do I do for AV?
paintball9 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Choose another, Preferably one that actually allows you to set your own restrictions and exceptions without deciding for you.If removing norton doesn't help with the freezes than you can just put it back on anyways, but try it.
