utorrent ram issue

here's the problem:

when ever i download something, utorrent first downloads to RAM and then saves to PC.

any way i can change this? my 4gb RAM get filled and it slows down my PC heavily, untill utorrent finishes the download. Here's the proof:

Is it actually the utorrent.exe process eating the ram?

What uTorrent version are you using?

What settings do you have for preferences - advanced - disk cache?

I am using utorrent version 2.0.2

in the first image you can see it is not the utorrent.exe procces itself that fills the ram, but rather (i presume) the temporary files it creates. (I am assuming this since my ram is full when downloading 4gb+ torrents(usually large ISO files), and it empties back few seconds after it's finished.)

Try with avast set to exclude uTorrent from active scanning.

Well that first image shows utorrent at a normal leve. If it is a memory leak usually it remains high until its closed, because the program doesn't even know its using the memory, it doesn't think there is anything to remove. Your yahoo messenger seems abnormally high in that image though, any IM client shouldn't go past 50 mb ram usage.

What is your cache set at (preferences - advanced - disk IO - Override) If its anything above 128 then lower it down and that's your problem. You shouldn't ever need more than that..

If that's not it then can you go back to that first image you took and take it again while the ram is in use, see if utorrent is actually the biggest one on the list. (i'm guessing it will be svchost instead due to the number of hardfaults it had on that image)
