issues with speed

The internet plan i signed up for is 15 Mbps, speedtest gave me results 16.26 Mbps (max was 17Mbps).

By this, what is the maximum speed i should be able to receive? assuming that the torrent just came out 2 or 3 days, and there are hundreds (sometimes thousands) of seeders/peers.

the port are successfully forwarded, firewalls are configured to allow bt to access/operate. but im not even close to getting minimal download speed.

Have been told that The TCP optimizer can be installed. Is it of any use?

Assuming that everything is going well, and your ISP is not run by anti-p2p shills, you're looking at a maximum potential speed of about 1.7mbyte/sec (which is what uTorrent would show in the download speed value in the status bar).

yea, with open office. highest was about 820kb/s...

used to get around 1.025 Mbps with my 8 Mbps... im using wired connection by the way...

uTorrent is configured based on max sustainable *UPLOAD* speed, which you haven't clearly stated.

Setting upload speed too high will cripple uTorrent's performance.

My guess is you're also on a very hostile-to-Bittorrent ISP, SingNet in Singapore.

i will usually set my upload speed to around 5kb/s or 25kb/s...

Even the number of connections and how FAST they're made uses some of your upload speed. So if that's set too high, your connection's upload side gets overloaded and download speed can drop like a brick as upload packets are randomly lost.
