Bodombeachteror
I received an official email from Comcast warning me to cancel and delete limewire and any other program used for file sharing. They listed a bunch of programs that were illegal but I did not see utorrent on that list. My sister used limewire often and it was her who downloaded songs and one song filed a complant w comcast against our ip address. If we use it again I'll have to go to court. Does this mean I can't use utorrent anymore????? I'm very upset over this and I'm too nervous to try and see what happens. I use utorrent to transfer files w my buddies and all sorts of awsome things. Please help me guys! Any documents or advice would be awesome! Bodombeachteror
Thanks. So I'm pretty much screw'd. Ugh what a bummer!
DreadWingKnight
The thing is, filesharing applications themselves technically aren't illegal. It's what they get used for that is, and even then, some situations come up where it's not illegal to use them.Honestly, I would challenge the legitimacy of the claims and find out what evidence they have that prompted the letter. Bodombeachteror
Is there anyway I can hide my ip or any tricks to keep safe w it or is it just the luck of the draw and some people have to bite the bullet when they get unlucky and caught. I'm just curious because I'm wondering if it was JUST that file she had downloaded was being monitored by a company or now my ip address is on a watch list for p2p program usage. DreadWingKnight
If you read the link I gave above, it's not only luck of the draw, you could have been framed.
Bodombeachteror
Yes I did read what the link had. It was very informing. How would I go about challenging the acusation?
Bodombeachteror
I just wanna know if anyone else out there has been in trouble before over using utorrent?
paintball9
I've gotten cease and desist letters before, and ignored every one of them (not saying you should do the same)However if all they're saying is that a program you're running is 'illegal' then it's total crap. They don't have that right. Using uTorrent is NOT ILLEGAL.
