Necro55
Since i updated to this version of the client, I am not longer able to set caps for uplaod and downloads. The option is there, and when I apply it, it drops for a second and goes right back to where it was before.I usually throttle back my upload HEAVILY and my download to about 1/2-2/3 or cap when I game online, otherwise lag is a killer, then let it go unchecked when im done.Currently, the settings are there, but doing nothing.Advice? Firon
Is 'enable rate limits for uTP' turned on in the preferences?
rafi
Shouldn't it be on by default ? Or do you suspect a bug - that the new setting is not on by default when people upgrade ?
Necro55
Preferences - Bandwidth - Apply rate limit to uTP connections? It is unchecked.I recently updated from one of the 1.8 variants of uTorrent. Is this needed to enable bandwidth control?
paintball9
The majority of bittorrent connections to peers using uTorrent now use uTP. So by not applying the speed limit to those connections they will go beyond your set limits. It probably should be on by default, however I think the idea was that if setup right uTP would throttle itself without the need for set limits (as it's supposed to do)

Necro55
Thanks for the help. Didn't know I needed to do that.Follow up question.I leave my torrents seeding long term. Now when I was on 1.8x it was an upload with an occasional glitch of download showing maybe 1k for a couple seconds. Well, now that I am on the current version, I am seeing constant download of 5-8k, yet I have nothing new, and all my torrents were done weeks ago. Files extracted and used.Any ideas? paintball9
Just protocol overhead. Required to keep connections alive. DHT and such.
Switeck
Earlier versions of uTorrent didn't show the overheads used.
