Two routers in line (Westell Wirespeed Modem)

Ok. I think my NAT error stems from the fact that my modem given to me by Verizon is actually a router with NAT capabilities, it just only has one output and a USB output (what the heck is the point of being a router then? thanks for the info, verizon). So now my network is "double NAT'ed," according to another post I found on the forum. The problem is, the other post didn't say how he fixed it. Does anyone know? I'm going to keep trying to research it, but if anyone knows or can give me a resource I would appreciate it alot.

well, since you're too (busy?) to check out, i've done some research for you. it seems, if you visited icedog's link in your OTHER post (2 posts about the same thing? shame on you) you would have solved your problem. visit portforward.com to get a step by step guide on how to solve your problem. i've linked it directly to a tutorial on how to set it using uTorrent and your particular router (yes, 2100 is a router...) Next time, just google it first, or go to the FAQs.

First off, no, 2100 is not a router. You can ask Verizon if you'd like. Or you can come here and try to find the router setup screen, which is nonexistant since it's not a router. Google it if you'd like.

The reason I started a new post was so that anyone who had already read the other one wouldn't ignore it, because I had a new question. This question was completely different from the first one.

Anyway, my problem had nothing to do with my network. Norton's internet worm protection, even though it says "permit all," still interferes with utorrent. This is in the FAQ under "Norton antivirus keeps prompting me to permit or block utorrent!" but since my Norton wasn't saying anything at all, I didn't look at it.

Thanks for being an ass about trying to help though. And, considering i go to college full-time at one of the most demanding schools in the U.S., work 25-30 hours a week at a separate job, have a fiancee, not to mention my homework and trying to run all the computer stuff for my parents who don't know how to do it, YES, I'd say I'm a little busy. Thanks for taking five minutes out of your "making other people feel stupid and worthless" time to give me a link to something I looked at 3 days ago, and then tell me how dumb I am.

Er, except it is. You can verify this at: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/6096

Because the Westell is actually a router and by default blocks ports, some popular games and applications may not work correctly. Therefore changes must be made to open certain ports or assign a specific IP to a computer.

Not from Verizon it isn't.

pay attention to # 13. "The Westell Wirespeed does not have an IP address since it is just a bridging device."

That is for the model that verizon sent me.

This guy also got this modem from verizon.

apparently verizon modifies the westell routers before they are sent out. I'm telling you, I've done the research.

I tried and tried and tried to get to the "setup screen", and it isn't there. Yes, I unhooked the router and went straight into the modem. Verizon puts entirely different firmware into them, so I don't think it could get "reset" because if it did, it would be "reset" to what verizon put on it in the first place.

Anyway, the point is, IT WASN"T MY MODEM!! That's how I know for sure it isn't acting as a router....It was Norton's internet worm protection. Yes I know, this is on the FAQ, but like I said before, it was under "why does norton keep prompting me to block or unblock utorrent?" My Norton WASN"T telling me anything, and it WAS setup to permit all actions of utorrent, so I didn't even notice that part of the FAQ. The FAQ is really long, and it just didn't click that that had anything to do with my problem. If it had said "Norton internet worm protection and utorrent" I would have read it. But it's ok, I really don't care, because it works now. no more NAT error, thats all I care about.
