aoegtiar
in connection setup guide it says if you check UPnP or NAT-PMP you dont need to set portforwarding...i checked it but i dont know what to do now. and i cant open ports because i dont have the router password.what do i need to do after i checked UPnP or NAT-PMP? firewall asks me if i want to deny or allow connection of utorrent. aoegtiar
But i know you can allow for specififc ports written somewhere on this site...and not let hackers in utorrent connect to me
DreadWingKnight
Ok, now you're just spouting silliness.Unless you're running an insecure version, just allowing the traffic of the program won't get you hacked.
aoegtiar
I a "Newbie", sorry.but why wont it get me hacked?i let seeds and peers connect to me right? then what is it exactly?
DreadWingKnight
Allow all uTorrent communication. You can only get hacked by vulnerable processes, and if you're running zonealarm as your internet security software, you should be more concerned with THAT opening your system to hackers than uTorrent. DreadWingKnight
Allow uTorrent to do its thing unrestricted. You can still block other processes that are actually malicious.
aoegtiar
Okey, what firewall do you have? maybe ill change to yours...are you a professional?
DreadWingKnight
I don't use a software firewall on my machine because I have a router.By the time anything gets past said router, it's too late for ANY software firewall to provide any real protection. aoegtiar
What? Why?everyone uses firewall...even with routers!what is exactly allowing connections?
DreadWingKnight
everyone uses firewall...even with routers!Myth. And I've had enough problems with software firewalls interfering with legitimate communications that they aren't worth the hassle to me.
