fofoo Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 i'm using windowsXP and i don't know what firmware version i'm using (i don't know how to find out)Windows doesn't have a firmwareversion. I suppose you have read the FAQ and confused some things there . The firmware part is only interesting to you if you have a "hardwarerouter" of wich i am not sure if you have one.i'm using software firewalls - spyware doctor and AVG 7.1That are not firewalls.Spyware Doctor is an Spywarescanner and AVG is an Virusscanner. If you dont have a hardwarerouter i strongly advise you to install a softwarefirewall. ZoneAlarm will suit your need as its the most easy to configure firewall.i'm sure that i have portforwarded correctly.Do you have a hardwarerouter?i have no idea if my ISP does malicious traffic shaping (i don't know what you mean)The "ISP" is the company providing you the internet service hence the name "ISP=Internet Service Provider". Bittorent generates the most traffic on the internet. That traffic costs ISP's lot of money because people with flatrate have torrents running 24/7. Therefore ISP started to monitor the traffic and throttle the bittorent traffic to reduce their costs.uTorrent has a feature that encrypts the bittorrent packets so that the ISP cannot distinguish the bittorent traffic from normal traffic. You can enable this feature by going to: Preferences > Network > Protokol Encryption > Outgoing set to Force.
