Cyberian
Yes, the new version is not so stable. It would freeze up within 5 minutes or so of running which did not happen with earlier builds. The only way out of it is to kill its process which leaves the mapped port opened, and when I restart it, uTorrent maps another but identical port.So I'm back to build 432 which seems to be much more stable.Michael
Ultima
I honestly have no clue, as there don't seem to be any changes between 432 and 436 that would cause stability problems... Maybe read cache size? It was made automatic in 433... Just a guess though, and I doubt that's the problem.

Cyberian
Consensus wins. However, it's very odd that earlier buillds (<=432) had no problems.

ludde
When it hangs, does it use 100% cpu? and does it happen every time you start it?
Razen
No it doesn't use 100% but no response during 30-60 seconds. It appears not everytime. Sometimes when we launch it , sometimes when we select a torrent... it's pretty unpredictable.I try to use again µtorrent 1.4 to resolve it (I had no problems before) and surprise !! I had the same problems I re-use the 1.5 and there are always the problems but it doesn't seems affecting the torrents download rates, it's only when we try to do some actions...(Sorry if I make some english mistakes, I'm french
schnurlos
That seems to be no problem of µTorrent at all.Try to find out, which process makes your pc hang while using µTorrent (with Task Manager, check CPU%).
Razen
No it's only µtorrent which encounters the problem and only µtorrent freezes...And with µtorrent 1.4 I had no problems :'(
Ultima
Cyberian said he recreated the settings files. Meaning he deleted the settings.dat and settings.dat.old from %appdata%\utorrent.

jult
Have you tried cleaning your Windows Temp directory?Close all running software, then go toC:\Documents and Settings\****\Local Settings\Temp\(where **** is your logon-username, or Administrator)and just delete everything in there, folders too, except for the files you can't delete (you'll be told that).Make sure you see ALL files (the Hidden and System ones as well).Reboot Windows and see if it's freezing again..Try X-setup http://www.x-setup.net/ to finetune your Windows (it's free).# crap! I just found out it's no longer free. Pity.
Firon
shortcut for C:\Documents and Settings\**** is %userprofile%
jult
shortcut for C:\Documents and Settings\**** is %userprofile%That looks way too confusing for the average user (they won't see or find a folder named "%userprofile%").Also, then they'll skip the default and other user's temp folders. Firon
A user who wouldn't know how to use %UserProfile% probably wouldn't have hidden files unchecked, so I bet default would be hidden But I'd prefer it if no one experiencing these issues cleared their settings or anything, 'cause there may just be an issue with µT. jult
For what it's worth:I have it running on up to date Windows 2000 and Windows XP systems without any stability issues (yet). And I run a lot of pretty strange and heavy audio/video applications on them while uT is smoothly running in the tray..
