Peacepilgrim Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 There's a private tracker, elbtiz.net, that I've been trying to download from. They say nothing in their system should be blocking me, yet I can only get HTTP Error 403. Whereas going to thepiratebay or other public sites works flawlessly. Can anyone suggest what could be going on and how to work around. I do use a proxy service that gives me USA or UK ip addresses. Running Win XP, SP 3.Thanks!
paintball9 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 You're probably gonna have to contact them on this one.My guess though, is that either you're not logged in or you're banned (either because of client or location, especially seeing as private trackers don't work well with proxies)
Switeck Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 ...Or the private tracker is down/offline/crashing.
Peacepilgrim Posted October 18, 2010 Author Report Posted October 18, 2010 The private tracker says they are not blocking me and they have had no trouble on their end. They assure me that the trouble is on my end. I just don't know what is blocking it and not sure how to find out. Any ideas on how to verify or work around?
DreadWingKnight Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 what internet security software do you have installed?
Switeck Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Some private trackers do not allow proxy connections.
Peacepilgrim Posted October 19, 2010 Author Report Posted October 19, 2010 I'm using AVG Internet Security software, but have also tried experiment, where I disabled firewall. I have corresponded with support from the tracker site. They tried to help me and eventually just said the problem was on my end and assured me that they were not blocking me; also did not have problem with my proxy.IMPORTANT UPDATE: my apartment owner told me that torrents are blocked on their server, because a few people were hogging the bandwidth. I can't understand though, why public torrent sites work, but this private one doesn't. So the question now is how to get around the fact that the server/isp is blocking. Now I'm researching some way to mask; not just a proxy, but somehow disguise the connection. Anyone have info on this? Thanks!
Switeck Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 So (most/all?) public trackers work but private trackers don't, according to uTorrent's Trackers window/tab?
Peacepilgrim Posted October 21, 2010 Author Report Posted October 21, 2010 Yes, I am successful at downloading from thepiratebay.org or kickasstorrents.com, for example. No problem. But the tracker from the private tracker turns from blue to red and Never actually starts to download. And my apartment manager says they intentionally have asked the tech guy to block torrent sites. But I use a proxy. So why do the public trackers work and Elbitz not??? Can't figure it out. Any ideas?
