dwayner
Good day to all.I'm a long-timer user of uTorrent but all of my experience is with just a standard desktop install. Now I want to learn how to use the webui interface and I'm having problems. My normal usage of uTorrent is to simply double-click the .torrent file in my browser. When the uTorrent window pops up, I use the "..." button to browse to the folder where I want to save the downloaded torrent file, then click OK. This has been working well for me for years. Now I am installing uTorrent in my new Acer NAS box. This little home server is running WHS and it was easy to install uTorrent on the box and have it run as a service so as to start automatically when the unit powers on. Because the Acer box is headless, I need to control uTorrrent remotely. And - I'm having problems. Two sets of problems, all resulting from the same root cause. How do I use uTorrent's webui interface to initiate a torrent download and put that download where I want it to go?Problem #1: I have a bunch of downloaded TV shows that I want to help seed. All of those files are organized where and how I want them. Seeding from the desktop version of uTorrent is easy - just browse to where those complete files are located, then allow uTorrent to complete the file checks.I can't figure out how to do that with the webui.Problem #2: directly related to (1) above: how can I initiate new downloads and put them where I want them to be in the directory structure on my WHS box?Any guidance greatly appreciated. Thanks!dwayne
Ultima
Anything dealing with arbitrary path selection is not possible in WebUI due to security concerns. µTorrent 3.0 allows users to select predefined locations for WebUI to use (configurable only from µTorrent itself, not WebUI), but it isn't yet supported in the browser-visible component of WebUI.
