santanderfilm Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 I'd like to help utorrent by submitting the 4 .dmp files that I have but I didn't submit because I wasn't sure what they contain. and a quick look into them shows that they contain my tracker passkeys and posting them on the internet would not be a good idea. What's the privacy policy regarding crash dumps? is it possible to take out the private information and submit?
Firon Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 It is not posted to the internet. It is only given to us and processed by an automated server. It is not possible to take out private information, as it's basically just a memory dump.
santanderfilm Posted October 22, 2010 Author Report Posted October 22, 2010 those crashes happened after closing utorrent when I was offline and didn't have access to internet... so I was going to upload the dmp files to a host and post the link here. is it possible to submit an existing crash dump directly to utorrent server?
moogly Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Upload an archive with your crash dumps to http://www.mediafire.com/ and post the link here or send it to Firon by email (http://forum.utorrent.com/misc.php?email=725).
Firon Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Upload it somewhere, but just email me the link to the dumps, instead of posting it here. http://forum.utorrent.com/misc.php?email=725What version are you running?
santanderfilm Posted November 26, 2010 Author Report Posted November 26, 2010 My paranoia got the best of me and I just deleted the dump files... I can't be convinced that list of all trackers and what I'm downloading has any benefit for troubleshooting & debugging and nothing to do with some kind of profiling...anyways I figured out how to avoid the crash and that's good enough.here how the crash happens: µTorrent v2.0.4 build 22450 and OS Windows XP Pro SP3my ISP requires loging in through a proxy. before loging in every request is redirected to a login page. if I log out of my internet connection and then close utorrent, it crashes. it also crashes if Network Connections (Local Area Connection) is disabled or disconnected and then utorrent closed. hope that helps.
Firon Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 It's a dump of uTorrent's memory, which is required to debug crashes.
