mtesta1985 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 Alright, I have a seedbox which uses Utorrent. When I go to upload a torrent I get the error "Invalid file type". I have cleaned out the cache and history on my browser and it didn't fix it. I switched browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome) and same problem across the board. I download the file to my drive then upload to the utorrent and still have the same issue. I downloaded utorrent to my pc, just to associate the file type of the torrents to utorrent. I have redownloaded the torrents multiple times and have tried different ones from multiple sources (public and private). I called a friend of mine and he is have the same problem. Is there anything I'm missing?
DreadWingKnight Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 Using what version of uT?What platform seedbox? What version of wine (if linux seedbox with windows uTorrent)? What webui version?
pollin8 Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 I'm experiencing this same issue, with a message that states "Unable to load >torrent URL here< Invalid torrent file!" I've done a bit of 'research' on this issue and found (in my case at least) that I only currently seem to be experiencing this with torrents loaded from a specific website (which worked fine prior to my updating to my current version of utorrent). I have successfully proved this (to myself) by loading torrents from other sites, which worked. My setup: Windows Vista Ultimate SP2, with utorrent 2.0.4 (build 22450)So, to the original poster, I am uncertain if you have, but maybe try loading your .torrent files from another website (not sure if I'm allowed to post the torrent sites I use here??) - just a suggestion
Firon Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Are you using add by URL or are you actually loading the .torrent by hand?
pollin8 Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Interestingly, things now seem to be working normally *confused*In answer to your question (Firon - if it was directed at me) - I had tried loading 'by hand' (as in double-clicking to open the .torrent file), URL loading as well as selecting the 'Open with' option from torrent websites, with the same result throughout...except, as stated, it only wouldn't load the torrents from a specific website, no matter how I tried loading the .torrent file. One thing I did notice from said problem website, is that sometimes the .torrent file would either be enclosed in one or even two pairs of round brackets, other times I noticed the equal (=) symbol enclosing the .torrent file - don't know if this info helps, but there it is. By the way, this behaviour appears erratic, often disappearing after a computer restart (I think) - not too certain though, it's been too erratic
pollin8 Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Update: It's happening again, except I may have found a 'workaround'Here it is: I download the file as a .txt and rename it to .torrent, then it loads successfully when I simply double-click to open with utorrent. Seems like either my ISP or firewall (I have changed software firewalls from Bitdefender to Vipre - it has happened with them both) are 'blocking' or changing(?) something in the .torrent file, but it gets through when downloading as .txt.Hope this helps
