alphax Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 My so-called broadband connection should be able to download 300 kB/s and upload 40-50 kB/s, but uTorrent only reaches that speed in bursts.Upload chartAs you can see in the above graph, my upload reaches peaks are regular intervals then dips to about half speed.Download chartThe peaks in the download chart are even more pronounced. What could be causing this and what can I do to down/upload close to my maximum speed more consistently?
moogly Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Are you sure your ISP is not throttling p2p traffic like BT?What's your ISP?
alphax Posted October 27, 2010 Author Report Posted October 27, 2010 How do you detect throttling by an ISP? My ISP is AT&T in the US.I was also speculating that this could be caused by TCP/IP configuration, I'm on WinXP.I've used SpeedGuide's TCP Optimizer and patched my tcpip.sys to raise my socket creation limit to 2048 using another program.
Switeck Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Raising the values for half open connection max in tcpip.sys is going the wrong direction.1st and 2nd links in my signature...try more conservative settings.
