domino66 Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 After months of nagging reminders to upgrade whenever I started uTorrent, I finally upgraded from 1.something to 2.04.The problem: when I'm downloading in uTorrent, my browsers don't function at all...they just time out as though I'm not connected to the internet. I should note that 1 out of every 20 times or so, I WILL be able to surf to a website even while downloading, but the connection is REALLY slow...the other 19/20 times, it just gives me a page not found error. As soon as I close uTorrent, internet functionality returns.I'm not 100% sure that the upgrade to v 2.04 was the cause of this, but I'd never had this problem before, and it started as soon as I upgraded so...
lithopsian Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Your router is probably getting swamped. You could search the forum for this issue and the many possible workarounds. Ideally, reconfigure your router. If that isn't possible, limit the number of connections, the speed of making new connections, the number of halfopen connections, turn off DHT, and possibly turn off uTP. Some combination of those should give you a usable internet.
domino66 Posted October 27, 2010 Author Report Posted October 27, 2010 Thanks for the reply...The only perplexing part of it is that I never USED to have this problem (until I upgraded to 2.04). Is there anything about the architecture of the newer version(s) that might make this problem worse than it had been before?(I do vaguely recall that my internet connection would slow down slightly when I had 5+ downloads going when I was using 1.x...but it was always perfectly usable...like i wrote in my OP, though, with 2.04 it completely halts pretty much all other internetting when I'm downloading...)
xanthraxz Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 I've been using 2.04 from the get-go and I've also just started having this problem today.
xanthraxz Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 hmm, updating to build 22450 seems to have fixed it for me
