Dainisjoe Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Two days ago Utorrent stopped working for me it is not downloading anything, and all torrents have red status. But when I run connection test it says everything ok. And I have not changed anything in settings. Can you help me.
moogly Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 See Tracker tab, what's the error message?
Dainisjoe Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 There are two messeges for different torrents either offline (timed out) or conection closed by peer.
moogly Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Post the tracker list, please.Same issue with a torrent from OOo?http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/
Dainisjoe Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 http://tracker.thepokerbay.org/announce.phphttp://announce.newoutlaw.org/announce.phpFor these it is showing Offline (timed out)http://inferno.demonoid.com:http://announce.inperil.net/announce.phpFor these it is showing Connection closed by peer. From your given link it is downloading, everything ok, torrent shown ir red Colour but downloading.
moogly Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 NB: Edit your previous message and remove the passkey in the tracker announces, they are private (your tracker account). And what's your firewall?
Dainisjoe Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 I think Windows XP provided firewall, antivirus I am using Avast.
Ayoob Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Hi I have same problem. I have been using the uTorrent for two weeks and I downloaded several files but two days ago I was downloading a file and after 63 percent of the file was downloaded, all actions were freezed. Nothing happened since then. No matter what any link I add from any website has stopped being download. The availability bar became red and the the trackers shows thisName Status Update In Seeds Peers Downloaded [DHT] waiting for announce... 0 0 0 [Local Peer Discovery] working 0 0 0 [Peer Exchange] working 0 0 0 http://tracker.openbittorrent.com/announce No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. 20m 15s 0 0 0 http://tracker.thepiratebay.org/announce HTTP Error 404 6m 59s 0 0 0 http://tracker.tntvillage.scambioetico.org:2710/announce working 6m 58s 19 8 0 udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce working 5m 23s 15 5 10 udp://tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announce Connection timed out. 30m 42s 0 0 0 udp://tracker.tntvillage.scambioetico.org:2710/announce Failure: access denied 6m 39s 19 8 N/A I could't figure it out. Can anyone help me Plz.
moogly Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 From your given link it is downloading, everything ok, torrent shown ir red Colour but downloading.Yep, as the torrent is public, DHT does the rest to find some peers. And is it the same error message you see for OOo's trackers?I could't figure it out. Can anyone help me Plz.Some trackers in your list are working so it's fine. Some ones have temporarily issues or are dead (like TPB).
Ayoob Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Dear moogly, what you said is not true in this situation because firstly this file hasn't finished downloading since Tuesday 26th. Yes, it seams that it is an on going download procedure but it is not. And secondly I add another links from different web sites and all of them are in the same situation. I checked my firewall settings, I turned the firewall off but nothing happened. Considering the fact that I had been downloading by this software for nearly two weeks and I didn't make any changes in my preferences or windows settings, I assume that the problem is either because of a virus or because of the utorrent automatic settings or something like that. It would be appreciated if you can find out what the problem is. I will send any information in case of necessity. Thanks
moogly Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 I read:http://tracker.tntvillage.scambioetico.org:2710/announce workingudp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce workingSo there are trackers working in your list.
Ayoob Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 It is not working take a look again to this one:Name Status Update In Seeds Peers Downloaded [DHT] waiting for announce... 0 0 0 [Local Peer Discovery] working 0 0 0 [Peer Exchange] working 0 0 0 http://tracker.openbittorrent.com/announce No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. 32m 39s 0 0 0 http://tracker.thepiratebay.org/announce HTTP Error 404 2m 51s 0 0 0 http://tracker.tntvillage.scambioetico.org:2710/announce working 2m 50s 24 7 0 udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce Connection timed out. 51m 30s 9 8 10 udp://tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announce Connection timed out. 40m 16s 0 0 0 udp://tracker.tntvillage.scambioetico.org:2710/announce Failure: access denied 21m 55s 24 8 N/A Or this one:Name Status Update In Seeds Peers Downloaded [DHT] waiting for announce... 0 0 0 [Local Peer Discovery] working 0 0 0 [Peer Exchange] working 0 0 0 http://tracker.openbittorrent.com/announce No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. 17s 0 0 0 udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce updating... 0 0 0
moogly Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 1st step: remove thepiratebay.org announces from the list. TPB trackers are dead for ages now.2nd step: add http://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce into the tracker listDoes it work?
moogly Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 http://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce is working right now so if after having added it, this tracker displays an error message, there is an external issue. So something is blocking the tracker URLs. Maybe your firewall, your proxy if you're using one or your ISP.Do you have the green network icon (circle) in the status bar of µT?
Dainisjoe Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 From your given link it is downloading, everything ok, torrent shown ir red Colour but downloading.Yep, as the torrent is public, DHT does the rest to find some peers. And is it the same error message you see for OOo's trackers?Connection closed by peer, it is showing.
Ayoob Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 I don't use proxy but I'm using firewall. As I wrote I turned it off but no changes occurred. I know little about the ISP but my other friends who are using the same internet WiFi network here can download torrents without any problem. Is there any way to find out the probable problem in ISP or network?By the way, there is a yellow triangle in the status bar of uT. I ran the connection test. Here is the result:Bandwidth results: speed test failed.connection failed error: A request to send or receive data was disallowed because the socket is ...Network results: port is not open (you are still able to download).
moogly Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 @Dainisjoe: do you have the green network icon in the status bar?Are you sure any security program isn't blocking µT? And about your ISP, any changes?@Ayoob: you have to fix the network icon, check your firewall and the exceptions about µT and the portforwarding rules in your router.
Dainisjoe Posted October 30, 2010 Author Report Posted October 30, 2010 Yes I have the green circle there. And I checked many time in setting that utorrent was added to exception list of firewall. The last sentence i did not understand what is that? And in trackers tab it showing for all trackers:DHT - not allowedLocal peer discovery - not allowedPeer exchange - not allowed
joza101 Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 I have a similar problem that also started two days ago. No new programs installed, no configuration changed. Reinstall (while keeping options) did not help, neither did turning the firewall completely off.Once i start uTorrent, it starts downloading but during the next couple of minutes the download and upload speed gradually drop to zero. The connection seems to be completely blocked by uTorrent, to the point that i was even having trouble accessing my home routers web interface, getting only a part of the page as the request times out. Once i shut uTorrent down, everything goes back to normal. I tried running the test (ctrl+g) and the bandwidth part failed while the network part checked out.
golfjiujitsu Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 I am trying to use bittorrent 7.1 from a new residence (connected wirelessly to a netopia router) -- nothing will download, availabilty is a solid red bar , there are seeds and peers for the file I want , under trackers the only one working is publicbit.com/announce but I cant get anything... please help if possible -- thanks very much
golfjiujitsu Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 also when I run tests (no green circle) the bandwidth test times out (10060) , the port test says that it is properly configured.
zombywuff Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Same problem here. I have 4 torrents stuck in queue, and no active torrents. Three of the torrents are partially downloaded and stuck in queue. 17 torrents are completed and seeding but not active, as I stated.

It starts downloading but dip to zero over a few minutes. Though I have no trouble accessing my home router's web interface.
