Venom1956 Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Hi all the last few weeks I've noticed that my download speed has went from 600kbs to around 10kbs. Anyone else been having this problem with SBC... I'm not particularly happy right now. They haven't limited my upload speed at all just my download.
Switeck Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 1st and 2nd links in my signature.I'm not convinced it's SBC yet...though it's not impossible that they're throttling. If you're seeing this at 1-6 AM, then it's even less likely to be throttling.
Venom1956 Posted October 30, 2010 Author Report Posted October 30, 2010 Ok sorry my first post was a bit vague but I was in a hurry to get it made before I had to leave. I have my ports 6881-6999 open thru my firewall, windows firewall is disabled, the only change I have gotten is maybe 3 months ago I had to replace my Motorola Modem Belkin router combo with this new 2wire 2 in one thing... I didn't really have a problem at first but lately. I struggle with any sort of download. 2 weeks ago I was averaging 300k no problem now... I peek at around thirty. I debating trying my motorola/belkin again to try and get some more info. Is there anyway to assign my Incoming ports to somewhere else besides 6881-6999 see if that fixes the problem? These are all checked in the 2wire 'attack detection' on my firewall except the top one. Excessive Session Detection TCP/UDP Port Scan Invalid Source/Destination IP address Packet Flood (SYN/UDP/ICMP/Other) Invalid TCP Flag Attacks (NULL/XMAS/Other) Invalid ICMP Detection MiscellaneousI have read all your links prior to posting (tried some of it...) but I've been getting frustrated with it and figured I would see if anyone else was having problems.
DreadWingKnight Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 Turn off all of that actually, chances are, your modem is overreacting.Additionally, is uTorrent actually configured to use those ports you set up or not?
Venom1956 Posted October 30, 2010 Author Report Posted October 30, 2010 ok hooked up the motorola and Belkin last night no change in performance... Tried running the 'speed test' in BitTorrent.last night with both the 2Wire and/or Motorola I got an error that stated. This is new as of today. yesterday the speed test would pass on both.BandwidthConnection failed error: A request to send or receive data was disallowed because the(... It sorta runs of screen.)NetworkPort is Open. Your network is properly configured.Additionally, is uTorrent actually configured to use those ports you set up or not?I know it is using the right listening port (47000?)I don't know about 6881-6999 I can't find anywhere in the settings to check that. Also I am running BitTorrent 7.1
DreadWingKnight Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 forwarding 6881-6999 is a waste of a forward slot if your client isn't actually listening on any of those ports. What internet security software do you have installed?
Venom1956 Posted October 30, 2010 Author Report Posted October 30, 2010 I don't have any internet security programs installed.
DreadWingKnight Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 Have you tested with torrents like openoffice or slackware to see what sort of speeds those give you?
Venom1956 Posted October 30, 2010 Author Report Posted October 30, 2010 No I haven't. If you point me in the direction of them I will start them right away.

Venom1956 Posted October 30, 2010 Author Report Posted October 30, 2010 they work fine? full speed 150kbs and 500bs on the other.Ok so my connection still can go at full speed... sigh, I am getting confused.New bandwidth test errorResults: Speed test failed.Data send error: A local networking problem closed the connection. (10053)Man this is really frustrating. Goddamnit. But I really appreciate for everyones help.
Switeck Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 2wire modem?http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=515308#p515308
Venom1956 Posted October 30, 2010 Author Report Posted October 30, 2010 I tried that seems to be working better but still sorta off and on. sometimes it checks out ok other times I get thatBandwidthConnection failed error: A request to send or receive data was disallowed because the(... It sorta runs of screen.)its 50/50 some times it works others it doesn't
