Winipulator Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 I blogged about this idea of mine I had a while back. But i'll summarize it here because I'm curious what you think of my idea.Torrents function by breaking up the original file(s) into thousands of tiny pieces and transferring those pieces individually. Suppose the next release of "Call of Duty" would be made available nowhere else but by a torrent provided by Activision. Anyone is free to download this torrent and load it up into uTorrent. The torrent begins with no data available to download, because there's a price of, say, $5 on all the tens of thousands of pieces that make up the torrent. When someone, somewhere, pays Activision $5, a piece is immediately added to the torrent for everyone to download freely. Once all the pieces are paid for, all the pieces are made available in the torrent. And from that point onward, that release of Call of Duty is freeware. Anyone is free to download it and put it on TPB or whatever they like. Activision has made its money so they're happy, people who are willing to pay for software are happy, and people who aren't willing to pay for software are happy. Everyone is happy and no one has been made a criminal. This could apply not only to video games, but all software, tv shows, movies. It would change entire industries and make piracy a thing of the past.A simple system for paying for pieces would be put into place, such as calling or texting a phone number and $5 being deducted from your cell phone credit. So what are your thoughts on this system? Here's my original blog post where I go into more detail, if you want to read: http://winipulator.blogspot.com/2010/09/perfect-solution-to-software-and-media.html
