Zac_Haddock Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Hi all,When downloading a movie file, it's often possible to preview it if the first bit of the file has been downloaded, but not otherwise. Since uTorrent downloads file pieces in a random order, it's quite possible to have downloaded most of the file before it's possible to preview it to make sure it's the one you wanted / good quality etc.Is it possible to tell uTorrent to try to download the first 5% or so sooner rather than later?ThanksZac
lithopsian Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 There's an option to prioritise the first and last pieces. Which version are you running?
moogly Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Preferences > Advanced > bt.prio_first_last_piece = trueAnd you can use/test alpha 3.0, there is a feature about local streaming, better this simple option.
Zac_Haddock Posted October 31, 2010 Author Report Posted October 31, 2010 Preferences > Advanced > bt.prio_first_last_piece = trueAmazing, my dream come true. Thanks.
Switeck Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 And that dream could be a disaster if very many people use it all the time.Seeds could give out more than 4:1, because of quick arrival of new peers...yet when they're done, there's not a single virtual copy between all of them because each new peer demands the same pieces from the seed.
