bkman Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Two points I want to raise here: first, when is Azureus and BC compatible PeX planned to be completed? It has been on hold for quite a while. And secondly, is the unique user and verison-count statistic that is being gathered by 1.5 going to be publicly viewable? A statistics page on the home page would be great.
Firon Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 In the future, but it's not automatically generated (at least, not yet), so there won't be something like a download counter (which would be updated every download). And um, I don't think it'll be compatible with BC ever, but it should be with Az when they change their peer wire format to the enhanced messaging protocol.
bkman Posted March 10, 2006 Author Report Posted March 10, 2006 Hmm, can you tell me in what ways the "enhanced messaging protocol" PeX is an improvement over the original first implemented by BC, and currently used by Azureus as well? It seems fine to me, and I don't see the point of diverging from it.

Ultima Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Probably obfuscated communication (I think... I'm not sure).
splintax Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 As for the user stats, it probably won't ever be available to the public live, since it would incur quite a bit of server load. However, ludde said a few hours ago that there are currently 300 000 users on 1.5.. so the feature seems to be working okay. Maybe he will get Firon to update it daily or something.
