thebends43201 Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Hi Mods:I have a weird problem with uploading. For the first couple of hours after opening utorrent, my uploads are less than 1 kB/s, but after leaving utorrent on for a couple of hours, it will eventually get to 70 kB/s (my max). I have no problem with d/l. This happens whether I am d/l'ing or just seeding. I've trolled through most of the help forums, good ones by Ultima and a couple of others, looking to solve this on my own but no luck. All I can offer in terms of obvious troubleshooting is that sometimes I get the green checkmark and other times not, though I have this problem no matter its status. Any thoughts? utorrent 2.0.4XP with SP3Firewall exception is onI've done both a dedicated port that I manually opened as well as random ports
Switeck Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Is your modem unit also a router? And do you have a separate router as well?If/when you do get decent upload speeds, are those uploads to incoming connections mostly or outgoing? Are you having trouble connecting to peers?
thebends43201 Posted November 4, 2010 Author Report Posted November 4, 2010 Hi Switeck and thanks for getting back to me.for the last 2 questions, I don't think I have probs connecting to peers, or with outgoing connections, since usually I am just seeding, not d/l'ing. It doesn't seem to matter whether I am d/l'ing or not. (Usually I am just seeding, trying to limp my way to 110% ratio, but other times I am doing both, and the d/l will fire up right away, seeding always takes forever, and I don't mean on new torrents, I mean all torrents.)Sorry, for the first two questions about modem/router, I don't really know what the questions mean. I have a USB wireless adapter on my computer, and a modem from a different company (2Wire) in the living room. We have DSL, two of us in the house use the internet, connection is always on. (I have no idea if any of that info helps.)Cheers.
thebends43201 Posted November 4, 2010 Author Report Posted November 4, 2010 I should add that today I was seeding, at 67 kB/s, and when I went to check it a few minutes later, it had stopped completely. It was still finding peers, just wasn't uploading.
Switeck Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Incoming/outgoing connections does not decide seeding/downloading...only how you initially connect to peers/seeds.Many 2wire modems are also routers. They are also notorious for many problems:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=515308#p515308http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r24593936-Speed-Problem-Failure-to-find-sites-DNS-problem-w2Wirehttp://www.dslreports.com/forum/r24608140-
