Utorrent Deleted completed files

It is my first encounter of any problems related to utorrent. I discovered that, the files that were completed, ie. movies, and already watched had somehow completely erased from utorrent- location where I save the files, and any data in reference to the trackers.

Another funny thing utorrent did was begin downloading an already downloaded file, ie, it restarted on its own the downloading of a file that was completed days before.

So for the deleted files, I used tune-up utilities -undelete, ie, thinking somehow it was within the erased history of the harddisk. Unfortunately, apart from the torrent initial tracker, there is no other mention of the files in question. All I saw in the undelete list were those files that I had deleted through the recycle bin.

I have run zone alarm few times checking if it were a virus or sort causing the troubles. But this is not so.

I basically had the same problem today, although it might not be related. My laptop shut down due to a bad battery and when I turned it back on, uTorrent had deleted all completed and seeding torrents. They were still on the computer however, unlike yours. I was pretty pissed b/c i kept some completed torrents in uTorrent because they were ones that I had achieved a high download speed and I wanted to keep the info from them, i.e. how fast they downloaded etc. I was also seeding 3 torrents and had to redownload the torrent files to continue seeding, and because of that the amount seeded started over. My problem isn't a big deal, just annoying that I lost info important to me.

@hackysackpro: not similar because in your case, that's resume.dat which has been corrupt after the power shutdown. Follow the migration guide to reload your torrents.

Ok, so you're stupidly assuming uTorrent is doing something wrong when you're previewing files before they've completed downloading then?

kinda the same problem here as well i just finished downloading 13.5 gigs of books+text and such (pdf files) and when it was finished i tried to open them up but only 4 gigs of the pdf files worked and under the files it says the size of it and all the ones that didnt work said 0kb.i thought it wouldve been corrupted but then i turned on my media player and the songs i had gotten from torrents didnt work so i went to my utorrent folder and the music files where still there but each of them said 0kb as well like some kind of torrent vampire sucked up all my music and books wasted weeks of downloading....wtf happend? i dont wanna stop using utorrent.
