Brenocfg Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Hey guys. First I'd like to say that I did run a search through the forums for this problem but apparently for other people who had it the problem was linked to a different issue, and were from really old topics so I assume those have been fixed. My problem started a few weeks ago when I setup a NAS for my home wireless network. I've been using uTorrent for ages with no problems at all, but every single torrent I try to set the save path directly into a folder inside the NAS, it'll start normally but eventually (this is sort of random, sometimes happens at 90% sometimes at the very start) will give me an error that says "Element not found". Every single time the error pops up I resume the torrent and it goes on to download/upload normally until eventually I get it again. The problem seems to be linked with the very last piece of the torrent (any torrent, I've tried several), as every time it finishes downloading the last piece that error pops up and it stops immediately. After a few resumes the only remaining piece will be this last one, at which point the progress bar stays stuck at 99.9%. As these were video files I've been able to view them just fine using VLC, although I'm not sure if the last piece is indeed missing or not. I'd like to get this fixed because not only is it annoying to have to resume a torrent multiple times to get it to finish, but because this way it's impossible for me to seed my torrents, seeing as when it has finished it'll stop every single time I try to resume it because the only piece left to download is that last one.I'm using version 2.0.4 and I'm connected to my NAS via wireless using the 802.11n protocol. The NAS hard drive is mapped and everything works just fine aside from uTorrent having this weird error.Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance .
DreadWingKnight Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Saving directly to network attached storage drives isn't recommended due to problems like this.
Brenocfg Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 So there's really no solution for this? Oh well... guess I'll have to do with not seeding a few torrents until I can get the Linux distro in my NAS working so I can torrent directly from it.Thanks for the reply anyway.
tsakko Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 HelloI 've been having exactly the same problem on my Fritz 7390 in combination with utorrent, the whole time getting the "element not found" report either by 90-99% of the download or right at the beginning, when I try to save the file in Fritz!NAS. Today having some time to check the problem again, I just happend to find a working solution through trial and error:When you load the torrent in utorrent, you are prompted to choose a path to save your file, e.g.:\\Fritz!nas\matrix\SanDisk-CruzerBlade-01\legal_not_copywrited.avi Fritz!nas is the NAS Server. For some reason it requests an extra name for the diplay in the homenetwork, in this case "matrix". The "SanDisk-CruzerBlade-01" is my USB StickI thought it looks kind of long, too many subdirectories and on top of that a "!" in the pathname, all things that under Windows can surely enough lead to compatibility problems.Searching some more in the menu of the Fritz 7390 under Heimnetz (homenetwork)>Speicer(NAS) I found the listed available disks on the NAS Server, including the SanDisk-CruzerBlade-01 (my USB Stick). The name was listed as an active link, so i clicked on it for the further options and then came just a contents list. This however was labeled: "Index of ftp://192.168.178.1/SanDisk-CruzerBlade-01/"So i just tried the following:1.Leave the "ftp://" away, since I am not accessing over the internet2. Just use the IP of my router "192.168.178.1" ruther than the annoying "\\Fritz!nas\matrix\"3. Save the file under the modified pathname: "192.168.178.1\SanDisk-CruzerBlade-01\legal_not_copywrited.avi" in utorrent4.and guess what? 100% download without any error messages.I hope it will also work for you
