DHT has stopped working

My username is an description of my computer skills and knowledge. I'm hoping that someone will be able to look through my ignorance and guide me towards a resolution of this problem.

Previously DHT showed some number at the bottom of the screen. It may be unrelated, but it was a day or two after I had the program shut down my system following the completion of downloading, that I noticed the DHT was showing zero.

Right now the DHT will first show that it is waiting, then it is logging in and afterwards it shows zero. I have downloaded, installed and uninstalled bit comet, bit torrent and utorrent with exactly the same result, that is zero DHT connections.

Somewhere during this period of DHT problems I switched firewalls to where I now run online armor free. However turning off that firewall does not resolve the problem. It automatically approved all three torrents that I tried. I use windows XP Pro, four gig of RAM, lots of free hard drive space. As I read the help screens the port forwarding procedure only only applies to static IP's, and my connection is dynamic.

In my ramblings if you have an insight as to what I'm overlooking please share with me.
