encrypt
Hi all...I guess this may be against the rules.. but a lot of torrent sites have not yet enabled the linux version of utorrent. Is it somehow possible to modify the user agent that's being sent so that we can edit it and place the user agent of a enabled version?Thanks...Edit:I tried to hexedit utserver and replaced uTorrent/300B(22789)(server) but when I try to execute it I get segmentation fault. If I replace only one character it will work... suggestions are welcome and I hope this is not against the rules!
aladaar
- Configure µTorrent to use proxy server- Run some small proxy that you can control (on your computer)- Configure proxy software to rewrite HTTP request and replace peer_id with some accepted version of µTorrent (no need for hex editing)

aladaar
I would go into details and explain this step-by-step, but I don't know if moderator(s) will accept this post. I did it with other bittorrent clients that can use proxy server.
DreadWingKnight
The real solution is to get the tracker sites to accept the agent for the server.
aladaar
@DreadWingKnight: I wholeheartedly agree, but if tracker management is more stubborn than a donkey and refuses to whitelist a client, modifying agent string seems the most reasonable solution. Gunnii
user agentwe need a way to either change the user agent OR set it to utorrent's normal user agent since most (private) trackers block it.we also need the tracker tab.
