darkred Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 GreetingsI've got a thomson 585v7 router, a 24mbit/1mbit adsl line and I use (the latest) utorrent v2.2 build 23071 on win7x64.Following the guide in Conservative Settings Chart (Alternate Speed Guide for uTorrent) I have set in the Preferences>Bandwidth tab:Max upload rate: 92 kB/secGlobal maximum number of connections: 200Maximum number of connected peers per torrent: 60Number of upload slots per torrent: 6Do you this that it's ok for my router?Could I set it more? Do you have any relevant experience?(I've read in some forums that my router is quite goodand can hold a lot of concurrent connections without problem)Also, I noticed this while testing:Suppose that I download some torrent with availability eg. around 10and I get speed at: down:250 kb/sec, up:90 kb/sec.IF I start another, fully seeded torrent [eg.a linux distribution (w/ availability near 60)]then I get for that torrent down:1000 kb/sec, up:2 kb/secand my initial torrent's seed instantly drops down to down:5 kb/sec, up:25 kb/secIs this normal? Maybe the connections are set too low?
Switeck Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Global max connections along with other connections in uTorrent (from special features and outgoing connection rate) may be too much for your router. If both torrents can have 60 connections per torrent each without hitting the 200 global max...that's proof enough right there that they shouldn't interfere with each other by "stealing" connections from each other. And once again, that points to an overload either of too many connections or too-high a speed. Your line may not be able to reach the full speed amounts. And even if your line can reach full speed, adding more connections is likely to make the overload worse rather than better.Try rafi's uTorrent Guide: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=74820
