Bittorrent very slow (not the DL Speed the software)

Hello please help me understand whats wrong !?

I am running bit-torrent 7.1, I have around 1200 torrents in it now and about 24 active. A day or two ago it was running smooth now however the software itself is extremely sluggish. I don't understand what could act on it for it to be so sluggish. I am running windows 7 and my hardware is not the issue. Is it something with java ? Please help me and point me to the right direction. Thanks
