bazthemail
Hi,I have this strange problem and hope you guys can help...1. I was using utorrent to download files, and everything were fine until recently. uTorrent stop working and complaining about the listen port. So, I changed the listen port, open a specific port in router which i never need to do before, shutdown firewall, remote the use of router...etc. Everything that various forums/posts suggested... Nothing work. I even download and install other bittorrent clients such as bittorrent, comet,...etc again, nothing work on this particular machine, say machine A (windows xp pro).2. I installed bittorrent on a windows xp pro laptop, machine B, with all exising settings, router, firewall, ...etc. It works right away. So, i dont know it is not about the specific port in router, the bittorrent client or the use of norton firewall...3. I go back to machine A, disconnected the drives, and install another drive with Win2K Pro, install a bittorrent client, again, it works right away. I am sure that it is nothing to do with the OS, the client and all other settings. So, here is my question: Why my existing settings in machine A, #1 does not work? After the tests, I assume that there are some settings somewhere created and used by all bittorrent clients and this setting/configuration does not work anymore... Hence all the clients are complaining about listen port but really nothing wrong with it.Can someone help me to resolve this issue?Thank you.B. bazthemail
By the way, in #1, I even uninstalled the norton security suite to make sure the firewall is not running.
Switeck
Machine A almost certainly has some software firewall or permissions blocking uTorrent.Try 1st link in my signature, LAST post, last part of that.Post a Process Explorer uTorrent.exe DLL list with everything else. I'll be looking for non-Microsoft DLLs that don't belong there.
