pasolini
Hi,I have not been able to make µTorrent actually communicate through Drakker, even though I have duely set the parameters in the "Connection" window : proxy5, and then url 10.8.128.1, port 1080.After checking with Drakker support, they advised me to use Wireshark, that show clearly that µTorrent sends and receives data with or without Drakker launched... very disturbing indeed.Any indea of how to make sure µTorrent sends and receives data only through Drakker ?Many thanks in advance. Switeck
uTorrent's UDP traffic will not pass through most proxies....And only uTorrent v2.2 and later supports even trying to send UDP traffic through proxies!
pasolini
But in this case what is the use of the subwindow dedicated to "proxy server" (second half of the "connection window") ?Also, on the official Drakker site, paramters are provided to use Drakker with µTorrent. Can you please explain ? Switeck
Most tracker updates use "standard" HTTP trackers -- these work through almost all proxies. Some use HTTPS, which only work through a subset of those. Some use UDP, which work through almost none...but udp trackers can be disabled/removed.Peer and Seed connections used to use only TCP packets, but now uTP and even Teredo/IPv6 uses UDP packets. Some proxies can handle the older style seed/peer TCP packets, but very few can handle the UDP packets.DHT and Resolve IPs both use UDP packets as far as I know. I've heard DHT is even "harder" to get going through the proxy than uTP seeds/peers, despite both being UDP packets.Local Peer Discovery (LPD) even uses multicast...and is only of value in special university-style environments where there's LOTS of very fast potential peers/seeds on the same extended WAN as yourself. I'm not aware of *ANY* proxies that would support LPD.Find out what your proxy supports -- TCP, UDP packets, and HTTPS in particular. So you have to disable everything that won't work through your proxy type...or get a better proxy. Firon
You need to use 2.2 to have full proxying support, particularly with UDP.
pasolini
I have µTorrent 2.2.Switeck I am unable to understand your explanation (lack of technical knowledge on my side).I have tried many suggestions from Drakker support (with Wireshark analysis), inluding disabling IPV6 Tunnel : µTorrent always continues to communicate (inwards and outwards) when configured to use Drakker proxy, and when Drakker is disabled.Very bizarre.Thank you if someone can find the solution ! Switeck
Can you at least find out if Drakker proxy supports proxying UDP packets?
pasolini
I forwarded your complete response to Drakker (French) Support ; in return, there was no specific analysis of this point, but a suggestion to disable IPV6 Tunnel, which didn't make any difference. However, the good news is that I have found that on my recent vbersion of µT (2.2), a new section has appeared in the Connexion dialogue window, containing options about proxy ; I have checked all three boxes, and now, when I stop Drakker, all (in and out) activity stpps in µT - and it doesn't start again until I re launch Drakker.I don't know which of the three has solved the problem, but it seems OK - althogh a bit slow for the moment.I will nevertheless ask tour question to the Drakkep Support guy, for further documentation.
