supercilious
Hi,I created this account to post this message, it is rather long, so please bear with me.I'm a happy utorrent 2.0.x user and just today, I "upgraded" to 2.2.Firstly, I just wanted to say, I sincerely and greatly appreciate the work you have done, and that you offer the product of your labour for all to use for free. Having said that, I simply must state that version 2.2 is, to put it mildly, a DISASTER - a severe letdown.First of all, I must state that the installer attempted to install a toolbar into my system. This alone makes utorrent unwelcome on any system I have any influence on whatsoever. Toolbars and any software that bundles them are simply intolerable. Enough said. Now, I proceeded based SOLELY on the fact that utorrent has been such a good program in the past, to installing the update, only to find that the entire UI has changed in appearance - and not for the better. In fact, aside from looking significantly worse (even more so on systems with the classic theme), it is less navigable and much more "laggy" when used via remote desktop. In addition to this, the entire program now feels more sluggish and bloated - mind you this is just a subjective feeling - but it is a world of difference from the 2.0.x line. This might be exacerbated by the fact that I run utorrent 24x7 on an low power Atom powered seedbox, running XP SP3, but 2.0.x was positively zippy, while the current one feels extremely slow and frustrating. Now, I am sure some people would prefer the new interface, but I urge you in the strongest possible terms to revert the UI to the old one. You should also note that as long as utorrent defaults to installing a toolbar (or anything else besides utorrent itself for that matter), I shall not be recommending such an obnoxious program to anyone under any circumstances. My less computer savvy friends and colleagues have enough trouble with using their machines as it is.Thank you for reading.TLDR:The new UI = bad Toolbar = worse
Firon
It's been offering toolbars for a very long time now.Honestly, the only real change to the GUI, aside from a new skin, was changing the sidebar to be a native treeview, instead of the hacky crap we had there before. You can hide apps and find content in the Options menu, and even make it compact to reduce the amount of space it uses. There's even a 2.0.4 skin to make it look like 2.0.4 again. http://download.utorrent.com/utorrent.2.0.4-v2.btskin
