RobDownloader
1) I've been using Bittorrent for a long time. I've got NO idea what utorrent is. Can you explain this to me?2) I have an HP Pavilion PC, with Windows XP SP3, Internet Explorer 8, and Bittorrent 7.2All my local drives are working properly, and so is my internet connection.Bittorrent has been working alright for a long time. However, a few days ago it stopped downloading or uploading anything. All seeds and leeches have the value "0(0)". I have quite a long list of torrents with download pending, and ALL of their seeds and leeches went down to 0 overnight, so the fact that one or some of them should have suddenly run out of seeds and leeches is NOT an explanation for what is happening. As far as I know, there have been no recent changes in the machine configuration or software that might have caused this. Can somebody please tell me what may be happening and how to fix it?Thank you very much! DreadWingKnight
What colors are the icons for the offending torrents?
RobDownloader
Some of them are red, and others are green. The state is "Downloading" in all of them.Something new. Last night, I followed someone's advice, and attempted to reinstall Bittorrent, in case it might have been corrupted.1) I uninstalled Bittorrent.2) I downloaded Bittorrent from www.bittorrent.com.3) I run the downloaded file.It was not a setup file. When I ran it, it started Bittorrent, and continued NOT to download anything, just like before. And besides, now I don't have Bittorrent installed (is this OK?)Thanks again! RobDownloader
Yesterday, when I uninstalled Bittorrent, it disappeared from the add/remove program list. As I said, when I downloaded it again, and ran it, it didn't install anything -- that is, none of the messages of a typical installation ever showed, and Bittorrent did not appear in the add/remove program list.I turned off the machine, and turned it back on today. Surprise! Bittorent appeared in the add/remove program list.I started it, but the problems remain exactly the same as I described them before. Thanks for whatever help you can give me! DreadWingKnight
http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p <-- if torrents from here work, it's probably just the torrents you have chosen. If they don't, it's likely something in your setup (or at your internet provider)
RobDownloader
Hi, DreadWinkKnight, thanks for taking the trouble to read and answer again!1- About http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p: I must be rather dumb, but I couldn't find any torrents in that site. All downloads I found there are direct downloads.2- I don´t think the problem has to do with the specific torrents in my download list because, until the end of November, some of the torrents were downloading, and most of them had a value different from 0(0) in seeders and leechers. And suddenly, everything stopped working overnight; no torrent kept downloading, and all of their seeders and leechers went down to 0(0).3- A few minutes ago, after I wrote the former lines of this post, I downloaded the BitTorrent client from Bittorrent.com again, I uninstalled BitTorrent in my PC, and I installed it again, running the file I had just downloaded. The outcome: DISASTER!Now I run Bittorrent, and the torrent list is EMPTY! I checked "Preferences" and everything is blank. I don't even know how to set its parameters back to what they used to be, so as to at least recover the torrent list that I had before, even though it was not working.Could you please tell me what I should look for in my computer, so I can try to restore the torrent list?Again, thank you very much for your help! RobDownloader
I've noticed that Bittorrent stopped working around the time when I installed AVG Antivirus. Can AVG be responsible for this disaster? If so, how can I fix it?Thank you!
